Hours Without Power? No Problem!
Our power went out around 3:30 this morning. Thankfully, it was a bit cool out, so it wasn’t uncomfortable.
Cameron woke around 6:30. I was in the kitchen and heard him flipping his light switch on and off.
“The power’s out, so you won’t be able to watch TV right now.”
He flopped onto the couch in a discouraged manner. I raced mentally through the possibilities of what he could do to occupy himself, as his Saturday morning ritual is to watch is shows in the living room with his dad.
Glancing around, I spotted my Kindle. That was the solution!
I said, “Hey, you can play with mommy’s Kindle while you wait for the power to come back on. You can play Angry Birds.”
He reluctantly agreed. He took it to his bedroom and played quietly, as I breathed a sigh of relief.
The Cameron of a few years ago would have had major issues with this bit of change. He has come a long way, though. Even when he got restless later, he simply brought my Kindle back out, went back in, and played with his Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for a while.
The power is back on now, and he’s doing well. So thankful for the work that has been done with him, and even for Kindle and Angry birds!
